Beartooth's

Leigh and I had a wonderful holiday weekend in the Beartooth Mountains. The weather was great and the flowers were out in full force. The beartooth highway goes from the northeast entrance of Yellowstone over to Red Lodge, MT and it is an awesome drive. In terms of straight high alpine, big mountain views, the road is just as good as Trail Ridge Road in Rocky, or the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier!

The beartooth mountains are home to hundreds of high alpine lakes. We got up early to catch sunrise near the pass and weren't disappointed.

We hiked the high lakes trail and were treated with lots of lakes, flowers, and cool clouds.

I was planning on taking lots more flower photos, because there were dozens of different ones in bloom, but the mosquitoes were so horrible that you couldn't stand still for 20 seconds without them swarming!

I was hoping to get a cool sunrise shot at Beartooth lake, but the clouds didn't cooperate and there wasn't much of one.

We then headed back up by the pass, and there was a thick layer of clouds hanging in the valley, and made for some cool shoots. It's not often you are above the clouds!

Mountain Goats like to stop and enjoy the view too!
